Is it possible that Guns are the problem? If we remove guns from our society, what will be the problem then? Knives? Explosives? Furthermore, how will people protect their homes and families? Perhaps we need to look a little deeper for the root of the problem. The fact of the matter is, we don't want to look deeper, we just want a quick fix. Sorry, there are no quick fixes. God's Word tells us what happens when we put God out of our thinking!
For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them. For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things. Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen. For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient; Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful: Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them. (Romans 1:18-32)
God has warned us of our punisment for not obeying Him:
But if ye will not hearken unto me, and will not do all these commandments; And if ye shall despise my statutes, or if your soul abhor my judgments, so that ye will not do all my commandments, but that ye break my covenant: I also will do this unto you; I will even appoint over you terror, consumption, and the burning ague, that shall consume the eyes, and cause sorrow of heart: and ye shall sow your seed in vain, for your enemies shall eat it. And I will set my face against you, and ye shall be slain before your enemies: they that hate you shall reign over you; and ye shall flee when none pursueth you. And if ye will not yet for all this hearken unto me, then I will punish you seven times more for your sins. And I will break the pride of your power; and I will make your heaven as iron, and your earth as brass: And your strength shall be spent in vain: for your land shall not yield her increase, neither shall the trees of the land yield their fruits. And if ye walk contrary unto me, and will not hearken unto me; I will bring seven times more plagues upon you according to your sins. I will also send wild beasts among you, which shall rob you of your children, and destroy your cattle, and make you few in number; and your high ways shall be desolate. And if ye will not be reformed by me by these things, but will walk contrary unto me; Then will I also walk contrary unto you, and will punish you yet seven times for your sins. And I will bring a sword upon you, that shall avenge the quarrel of my covenant: and when ye are gathered together within your cities, I will send the pestilence among you; and ye shall be delivered into the hand of the enemy. And when I have broken the staff of your bread, ten women shall bake your bread in one oven, and they shall deliver you your bread again by weight: and ye shall eat, and not be satisfied. And if ye will not for all this hearken unto me, but walk contrary unto me; Then I will walk contrary unto you also in fury; and I, even I, will chastise you seven times for your sins. And ye shall eat the flesh of your sons, and the flesh of your daughters shall ye eat. And I will destroy your high places, and cut down your images, and cast your carcases upon the carcases of your idols, and my soul shall abhor you. And I will make your cities waste, and bring your sanctuaries unto desolation, and I will not smell the savour of your sweet odours. And I will bring the land into desolation: and your enemies which dwell therein shall be astonished at it. And I will scatter you among the heathen, and will draw out a sword after you: and your land shall be desolate, and your cities waste. Then shall the land enjoy her sabbaths, as long as it lieth desolate, and ye be in your enemies’ land; even then shall the land rest, and enjoy her sabbaths. As long as it lieth desolate it shall rest; because it did not rest in your sabbaths, when ye dwelt upon it. And upon them that are left alive of you I will send a faintness into their hearts in the lands of their enemies; and the sound of a shaken leaf shall chase them; and they shall flee, as fleeing from a sword; and they shall fall when none pursueth. And they shall fall one upon another, as it were before a sword, when none pursueth: and ye shall have no power to stand before your enemies. And ye shall perish among the heathen, and the land of your enemies shall eat you up. And they that are left of you shall pine away in their iniquity in your enemies’ lands; and also in the iniquities of their fathers shall they pine away with them. (Leviticus 26:14-39)
Please notice in the verses above that they knew not God. Today America knows not God. In fact they gave John Ashcroft a hard time about his stand for God. They worry that he and George W. Bush will try to push their moral beliefs on the nation. Praise God I hope they do!
Notice that God gave them up to uncleanness, they were vain in their imaginations, they worshipped and served the creature more than the creator. We have become that here in America. We worship sports heros, actors, philosophers, the Pope, "Saints", Satan, in fact the only worship that is attacked today is worshipping the Lord Jesus Christ! Worshipping the God of our fathers has become too controversal! We have turned away from God.
Remove not the ancient landmark, which thy fathers have set.(Proverbs 22:28)
In 1963 our Supreme Court made a decision that would change the course of our nation, much more drastically then we could ever have imagined. That was the decision which banned prayer in public schools. The case was brought before the courts by a wicked woman by the name of Madalyn Murray O'Hair. She was adamant about her stand against prayer. She was actively involved in the Socialist Workers Party, the Socialist Labor Party and the Communist Party in the United States. She made comments like "I love a good fight...I guess fighting God and God's spokesman is sort of the ultimate, isn't it?" We didn't fight back, we let it happen. Homosexuality and all sorts of sexual perversion have become prevalent in our society. Baby murdering is a booming business. Evolution is taught in our class rooms rather than creationism. We have not liked to retain God in our knowledge for a long time. We certainly as a nation are filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable and unmerciful. I am sure our forefathers mindset would surely be the same as ours today, "I never thought that it could happen here!" It has, and it will only get worse if we continue to look for a quick fix. We are being punished continually for continually disregarding God's commandments. Come on people, wake up! Let's stop screaming: "Gun laws! Gun laws! Gun laws! And start declaring: God's laws! God's laws! God's laws! What's going to become of this nation? The Bible gives us the answer to that question:
Though hand join in hand, the wicked shall not be unpunished: but the seed of the righteous shall be delivered. (Proverbs 11:21)
The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God (Psalm 9:17)
You might ask, "What can we do?" God's Word gives us the answer to that question also, many times:
If they shall confess their iniquity, and the iniquity of their fathers, with their trespass which they trespassed against me, and that also they have walked contrary unto me; And that I also have walked contrary unto them, and have brought them into the land of their enemies; if then their uncircumcised hearts be humbled, and they then accept of the punishment of their iniquity: (Leviticus 26:40-41)
If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. (2 Chron 7:14)
At what instant I shall speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to pluck up, and to pull down, and to destroy it; If that nation, against whom I have pronounced, turn from their evil, I will repent of the evil that I thought to do unto them. And at what instant I shall speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to build and to plant it; If it do evil in my sight, that it obey not my voice, then I will repent of the good, wherewith I said I would benefit them.
Now therefore go to, speak to the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, saying, Thus saith the LORD; Behold, I frame evil against you, and devise a device against you: return ye now every one from his evil way, and make your ways and your doings good.(Jeremiah 18:7-11)
Let us search and try our ways, and turn again to the LORD.(Lamentations 3:40)
When I shall say to the righteous, that he shall surely live; if he trust to his own righteousness, and commit iniquity, all his righteousnesses shall not be remembered; but for his iniquity that he hath committed, he shall die for it.
Again, when I say unto the wicked, Thou shalt surely die; if he turn from his sin, and do that which is lawful and right; If the wicked restore the pledge, give again that he had robbed, walk in the statutes of life, without committing iniquity; he shall surely live, he shall not die. None of his sins that he hath committed shall be mentioned unto him: he hath done that which is lawful and right; he shall surely live. Yet the children of thy people say, The way of the Lord is not equal: but as for them, their way is not equal. When the righteous turneth from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, he shall even die thereby. But if the wicked turn from his wickedness, and do that which is lawful and right, he shall live thereby.(Ezekiel 33:13-19)
Come, and let us return unto the LORD: for he hath torn, and he will heal us; he hath smitten, and he will bind us up. After two days will he revive us: in the third day he will raise us up, and we shall live in his sight. Then shall we know, if we follow on to know the LORD: his going forth is prepared as the morning; and he shall come unto us as the rain, as the latter and former rain unto the earth. (Hosea 6:1-3)
The answer is quite clear, we need to turn back to God now! How many more precious young lives will it cost before we listen? Whose child will be next? Are you willing to be the next parent to receive that horrifying phone call? Young people, are you willing to become the next statistic? Think hard America, the time is at hand to look toward God's laws rather than gun laws. Here are just a few of the steps we need to take to get onto the road to recovery:
1. Turn to God. Confess your sins, ask him to forgive you, as well as this nation, repent, and ask Him into your heart to save you.
2. Return God to his rightful place in your home, and push your officials to do the same in your schools.
3. Begin family devotions in your home. Read the Bible and pray as a family.
4. Begin attending a local Bible believing Church, and become active in its activities.
5. Don't let society rule how you should raise your children, see what God's Word says:
He that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes.(Proverbs 13:24)
Chasten thy son while there is hope, and let not thy soul spare for his crying. (Proverbs 19:18)
Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it. (Proverbs 22:6)
Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child; but the rod of correction shall drive it far from him. (Proverbs 22:15)
Withhold not correction from the child: for if thou beatest him with the rod, he shall not die. (Proverbs 23:13)
6. Don't back down!
This may sound difficult. It may cost you a loss in income to do it all. It may not be convenient for you. How much are your Children really worth to you? I challenge you to put your money where your mouth is, and prove it! Let's get America back to God, before it's too late! How much are your Children really worth to you? How much are your Children really worth to you? How much are your Children really worth to you?
